Senator VanValkenberg closes out a highly productive legislative session with a Town Hall

April 28, 2025
By: Colleen Bohlman

Schuyler VanValkenberg

Senator Schulyer VanValkenberg (D-16) had a highly productive legislative session in 2025, introducing 18 pieces of legislation with close to an 80% bill survival rate. Of the bills that passed both chambers, the Governor approved five, amended five, and vetoed two.

“This has been a very productive session for me, and while there’s always more that could be done, I am happy about what my team and I were able to accomplish.” – Senator VanValkenberg (D, VA-16)

With the 2025 Reconvene session in the rear-view mirror, expect to see him out and about the 16th at events, community meetings, and town halls. Register here for his town hall on 4/29! Rest assured, he’s already working to refine legislation that didn’t pass this session and generate new ideas to help Virginians for the next.

He’s also been hearing from constituents regarding their concerns about the actions of President Trump, “DOGE,” Elon Musk, and the Constitutional crisis they have put us in. “Please know that I share your concerns, and I will do whatever is in my power to protect Virginians’ rights and well-being, and to find ways to proactively mitigate these harmful actions. In the meantime, I will continue to show up and do the work for the people of the 16th District and the Commonwealth of Virginia.” – Senator Schuyler VanValkenberg

To learn more, read his full update, which includes details on the legislation he championed this session (posted with permission from Schuyler VanValkenberg for Virginia).
