For example, Wittman voted for H.R. 1. This law puts 24,000-plus CD1 residents at risk of losing Medicaid; cuts food assistance like SNAP for 827,000 Virginians; threatens funding for rural hospitals; and is estimated to cause $1,700–$2,100 in higher annual costs for Virginia households.
His votes and support of Trump administration policies have increased the cost of gas, groceries, utility bills, and healthcare. Wittman’s “No” vote on the Inflation Reduction Act (H.R.5376) blocked Medicare drug price negotiation and a $2,000 annual drug cost cap for seniors. The issue of affordable housing hasn’t appeared on his campaign platform since 2012, yet in a recent mailer he claimed to have “led the fight…to make home ownership more attainable for Virginians.”
