Delegate Candidate Scott Konopasek: Your Safeguard Against Chaos for the 59th District

On May 1, 2025, residents from the 59th District gathered at the Ashland Library for an insightful roundtable discussion with candidate Scott Konopasek, who is running for delegate in the 59th District. Multiple generations of voters showed up to listen, learn, and pledge their support.

First, Konopasek described his background. He has deep roots in Virginia, as evidenced by the fact that “Three generations of Konopaseks live, work, and play in the 59th District.”

Konopasek is a decorated combat veteran with an extensive history of government and community service. Highlights include:

  • Fourteen years as an Army Intelligence Officer
  • Nationally recognized leader in Elections and Public Administration
  • Thirty years as a local government public official and community volunteer

Scott Konopasek is running to stop the manufactured political chaos coming from the current federal government. The hallmark of his leadership style is that he’s a collaborator. His personal passion is cultivating a government that is “moral, representative, fair, efficient, and responsive.”

His top three priorities are voter rights, the environment, and seniors and veterans. If elected, one of his first legislative goals would be to ensure all Virginia school board members are elected by you—not appointed by others. And for anyone worried about government efficiency, he has streamlined organizations, reduced costs, and increased employee retention.

A lively discussion followed during which Konopasek listened attentively to the concerns of District 59 residents. The topics included school board elections, supporting teachers, agricultural issues, wealth inequality, creating a safe space for voters, and protecting Virginians from government overreach.

At one point, Konopasek stressed the importance of shared values within communities. His approach to this subject revealed that he’s a candidate who could effectively collaborate with fellow General Assembly delegates in a bipartisan way to get things done.

Throughout the event, Konopasek projected a strong sense of stability. He has the professional experience, determination, and ethics to cut through the increasing disarray and disorder Virginians face—enabling us to thrive in a brighter future.

“What brings me out is the future of my grandchildren and my great grandchildren and bad things for the working class. People fought so hard to get us where we are, I was hoping we’d never go back, we’d just keep moving forward and make it better. But we’re going backward, and it’s getting worse.”

“I object to what’s going on. Every morning I wake up and open the newspaper like ‘What fresh hell will there be today?’ And there are so many issues that I’m absolutely horrified by that it’s hard to list them all. My partner is on Medicaid and they craftily cut it – for after the midterms. He has a large number of health issues, and it’s going to be very difficult for him to get healthcare. It’ll be really tough.”
