For the 2nd year in a row, bills are moving through the General Assembly to protect Virginians’ right to contraception. This is important at a state level because in a concurring opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, Justice Clarence Thomas said that the Supreme Court should reconsider opinions protecting same-sex relationships, marriage equality and access to contraceptives. In 2024, the bill passed the Virginia General Assembly with bipartisan support, but was vetoed by Governor Glenn Youngkin (R).
How your elected officials voted:
- In the House of Delegates, Delegate David Owen (R) ✅
- Lt Governor and candidate for Governor Winsome Earl-Sears (R) ❌.
- In the Senate Education and Health Committee: Senator Schuyler Van Valkenberg (D) ✅
