Why do you want to be a Neighbor for Change:
“The election. I’ve never been someone who has been really political, but I am a disabled veteran, I have a son with Cerebral Palsy, so the attack at what they call the DEI community, is at me, right, someone who is a veteran with a disability and a child with some, so that is the main reason. I was a conservative up until 2016.”
Why do you want to be involved at the grassroots level:
“For me, this is the population where I have connections and resources, friends, people that I can rely on. The past couple of months have challenged some of those relationships that I’ve had with people who feel differently – but I feel (the grassroots level) is where you can have the rapport and ability to really influence people to really understand the impact this is having, and hopefully that transcends upwards.”
What do you see as hopeful:
“Inherently, I believe people are good. I’m optimistic that people are good hearted. I’m pessimistic in the sense that I think people are struggling to find ways they feel valued.”
How do you feel about Abigail Spanberger for Governor?
“On the heels of the election, again, never having been someone overly political, she is definitely someone I’d love to see win. She’s someone I’ve talked to my family about as far as how do I carve out time to help, what does that look like and where do I have unique skillsets to help that campaign be successful.”
