Senator Mark Warner expressed high concern about free and fair midterm elections, on “The Jim Acosta Show” on Substack.
“I never thought I’d be saying this in our country in 2026, as much as I’m concerned about Iran, and gas prices and all of the other issues, I am so concerned that we could have interference in our elections this year. That (Director of National Intelligence) Tulsi Gabbard will come up with some kind of intelligence, real or not, and Trump uses that as a predicate to send in federal troops or change the election days. I think this crowd will do anything to try to hold onto power And again, this is almost in plain sight. Donald Trump himself has said himself repeatedly, you know we ought to federalize the elections, we ought to have Republicans take over certain states, that is counter to everything about local elections and state elections being the purview of the states and the localities” Warner says.
He went on to say “Former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said it out loud “we want the right people to vote for the right people”. I mean this is about undermining our very democracy, and we have to be on guard against that. I think if votes are cast, they will be counted fairly, I have trust in that system, but I am so afraid about what may happen in the days and weeks leading up to the election in an effort to not allow the American people to express their will this year, because if they do express their will, I think it is soundly against this president”.
