Ballot Petitions – Democracy in Action

January 23, 2025
By: Staff Writer

Before an individual can be on the ballot for an elected position, they must collect a minimum number of signatures from folks who live within their district.  Anyone can sign and there is no commitment to vote for, otherwise support or donate to the candidate.  We are hosting a signing event at the Twin Hickory Library on 1/29, 7:30-8:30PM  Please drop in to sign petitions for local candidates.

“What brings me out is the future of my grandchildren and my great grandchildren and bad things for the working class. People fought so hard to get us where we are, I was hoping we’d never go back, we’d just keep moving forward and make it better. But we’re going backward, and it’s getting worse.”

“I object to what’s going on. Every morning I wake up and open the newspaper like ‘What fresh hell will there be today?’ And there are so many issues that I’m absolutely horrified by that it’s hard to list them all. My partner is on Medicaid and they craftily cut it – for after the midterms. He has a large number of health issues, and it’s going to be very difficult for him to get healthcare. It’ll be really tough.”
