Wittman fails to address constituent questions about Trump-Musk and DOGE

About 100 people showed up at the Williamsburg Regional Library on Thursday, hoping to talk to U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman during his scheduled mobile office hours. Concerns ranged from bills currently before the General Assembly to President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s running of the federal government.

Congressman Wittman (R-01) did not attend, and an aide fielded comments from the larger than normal group of attendees. Jessica Anderson, who is running as a Democrat for the 71st District in the state House of Delegates, said Wittman’s “failure to address the current dismantling of our democracy …  is unacceptable and a dereliction of his duties as our congressman.”

  • Call Congressman Rob Wittman (R-01) and ask him for a public statement on Trump-Musk and DOGE. Is he for or against the approach this administration is taking and the impact on Virginia Jobs and research grants?

“What brings me out is the future of my grandchildren and my great grandchildren and bad things for the working class. People fought so hard to get us where we are, I was hoping we’d never go back, we’d just keep moving forward and make it better. But we’re going backward, and it’s getting worse.”

“I object to what’s going on. Every morning I wake up and open the newspaper like ‘What fresh hell will there be today?’ And there are so many issues that I’m absolutely horrified by that it’s hard to list them all. My partner is on Medicaid and they craftily cut it – for after the midterms. He has a large number of health issues, and it’s going to be very difficult for him to get healthcare. It’ll be really tough.”
