Virginians head to the polls again on August 4 for the primary elections. In our area – Congressional District 1 – the Democratic party has 7 candidates on the ballot hoping to earn the nomination to challenge Republican incumbent Congressman Rob Wittman. Here’s the important primary election information you need to know.
Dates and Deadlines
- In-Person Early Voting – Thursday, June 18 through Saturday, August 1
- Last day to register to vote – July 24 (You can still register same day and vote using a provisional ballot from July 25 – August 4)
- Last day to request an absentee ballot – July 24
- Last day to return an absentee ballot – August 4 (postmarked on or before 8/4 and received by 8/7)
- Election Day – Tuesday 8/4 – 6AM-7PM
